Romer is a smartwatch app designed for people who navigate in the outdoors using a map and compass.
Romer is a smartwatch-first app for Wear OS™ that lets you quickly locate yourself1 when you need to, orient your map2, and automatically tick-off waypoints on a pre-loaded route. Romer is designed to be low-distraction and conveniently available on your smartwatch — allowing you to concentrate on navigating and on your surroundings.
Romer supports numerous grid reference systems — including UK Ordnance Survey, Irish grid reference, and Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM). It features a night navigation mode that protects your night vision, and extensive customisation options within the watch app itself.
A companion Android™ app lets you upload gpx route information to Romer on your smartwatch, or download routes created on the smartwatch itself.
Romer is currently undergoing final testing and will be released soon on Google Play
Notes
1 Location feature requires a Wear OS™ smartwatch with either built-in GNSS capability (e.g. GPS, Galileo, etc.) or a Bluetooth connection to a mobile device (e.g. smartphone in your backpack) with GNSS capability. If your smartwatch supports GPS then you can use it with Romer.
2 Map orientation feature requires a Wear OS™ smartwatch with a built-in compass / magnetic field sensor. If your smartwatch doesn’t have a compass then other app features are still available.
